One by one, the markets of Europe were taken on – France as early as 1962, Italy in 1970 and Spain in 1973.
In 1968, the company introduced a new and very different roof window, the VELUX GGL. It was the result of a massive development project and brought with it many new advantages. A new pivot hinge allowed the window to be rotated through 180°, and a special friction feature in the hinge allowed it to stay open without the use of a peg bar. The name GGL comes from the Danish model description –referring to the control bar running across the top of the window making operation child’s play. The new window also brought with it great demands for modernisation of production, partly because the GGL was the first window to contain an insulating glass unit, also produced by VELUX. test 3
